Long-term Support for the Potsdam Holiday Fund

Through our Endowment, the Potsdam Holiday Fund maintains a permanent fund that generates annual income to support our program.

What Is an Endowment?

In 2015, the Potsdam Holiday Fund established an Endowment with the Northern New York Community Foundation. An endowment is a “forever” fund designed to provide long-term, perpetual support, helping ensure that the Potsdam Holiday Fund can continue serving families and senior citizens in need for many years to come.

Here’s how it works: The principal of the Endowment is invested, and a portion of the earnings is made available each year to support the program. If the funds are not needed in a given year, they may be reinvested to help grow the Endowment over time. The fund is professionally managed by the Northern New York Community Foundation.

This partnership between the Potsdam Holiday Fund and the Northern New York Community Foundation was created to strengthen long-term sustainability and provide lasting support for our mission. As a permanent component fund of the Community Foundation, the Endowment also offers additional options for donors who are considering major or planned gifts in support of our work in perpetuity.

We are deeply grateful for our partnership with the Northern New York Community Foundation, which helps ensure that the Potsdam Holiday Fund can continue supporting local families in need well into the future. This effort is part of a broader community tradition made possible by hundreds of volunteers and donors who give generously each year.

Together, we are helping to make the holidays brighter for hundreds of children and senior citizens in need throughout our community.
